I am Kelly Hanlon, a restaurant veteran with 20-plus years of experience doing everything from bartending, serving, managing, beverage managing, general managing, and making pizza. I have washed dishes, bussed tables, and plunged toilets. The F**k All Comedy Ball is more a celebration of bad habits than a stand up show you would see in a comedy club. A tailor-made event for Asheville’s premiere alternative performance venue, The Magnetic Field, this show draws its energy from the unique behavior of the performers.

The host, Asheville’s own Melanie Maloy, weaves comedic stories of life after dark based on her ability to be comfortable in her tattooed skin. Former rock musician Doug Canney is no stranger to the stage and possesses a great ability to pull the funny from decisions that should not have been made. John Mc Clellan brings a fearless energy and insight to a cut throat style of stand up that focuses on the right way to do the wrong thing.

In recent weeks, Hip Replacements co-owner Franzi Charen has received phone calls from community leaders across the nation, enthusiastic to pursue a Go Local Card with their own school systems.

Mother Earth Produce is making it easier to eat local veggies and fruits.  Mother Earth Produce works with a network of regional farms, delivering produce from farms in Western North Carolina to your door—starting in April 2012.  Register (it’s free to register) between now and March 15, you will be entered to win one month ($100) of free local produce from Mother Earth Produce!

Local produce delivery is a great option for people without transportation (seniors, people with disabilities) or for the busy person or family who wants to eat local, but finds it easier to stop by a grocery store instead of seeking out a farmers market.

Lush Life Productions, a local publicity and event promotions company,  hosts the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Party at the Rankin Vault and Cocktail Lounge in downtown Asheville. The party is loosely themed on the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in 1929 Chicago, a prohibition-era conflict between two powerful gangs.

1920s-era clothing is strongly recommended. The party gets started at 8pm and goes late into the night with DJ Lorruh spinning period music with a contemporary twist.
