In other tech/entrepreneur news, a small delegation is headed to SXSW next week to represent Asheville as a great place for entrepreneurs to get a start, according to Ashvegas.com, who also reports that the trip is funded by an anonymous donor.

The Asheville event is titled “adVenture Asheville” and will feature plenty of nods to the mountains. The group hopes to serve up a little moonshine from Troy & Sons Distillery and will have hammocks from Eagle’s Nest Outfitters out for people to lounge on, for example. There will also certainly be other food, photos and art on display from Asheville. The Asheville presence is being funded by an anonymous donor.

Will it work? Is Asheville ready to support the risk-takers when they get here?

Check out the gorgeous art for the event by Asheville ace graphic designer, Jenny Greer.

And local tech/entrepreneur scenester Brett McCall is attending TEDActive (the simulcast of TED 2012, the elite California great-ideas conference that licences TEDxAsheville and all TEDx events).

This coming week, look for his updates at citizen-times.com.

    Jen,

Thanks for keeping up with things so well. Your community mindedness and gift of gab is exactly what we need. As the “Chief Curator” of Spark Tech Talk we talked many times about how to include local Asheville folks in our podcast. I’d really like to talk to you about getting on an upcoming podcast about community-driven movements. So your role with TEDx, but also really your leadership role with Blog Asheville which always has impressed me as a community infrastructure project and even an econ development tool (although I’d put it in the soft category – still just as important as the more tangible forms of econdev).

Ty, It’s been my pleasure to be one of the people who has tried to share the conversation about what Asheville is and what it could become.

I am VERY excited about Spark Tech Talk and would love to share ideas for community partnerships, from local radio and media connections and partnerships to Asheville people to appear. And sure, I’ll be on it! All kinds of things to talk about: Kickstarter, the new WNC Ad Guild, TEDxAsheville… Community movements including the push to bring an entrepreneurial accelerator to downtown Asheville, Ian Riddell’s computer learning center, downtown co-working and space-sharing as a way for community, media and business to work together…Let’s talk Thurs for sure.

    Your supporter,

    Jen
