Here’s an image of a 2′X6′ diptych by local artist Stephen Lange. If you have information about its whereabouts, contact Lange directly here or at his studios on the second floor of the Wedge.
Image of stolen artwork from Mountain Xpress
The work was not finished at the time it was stolen, and Lange says it will soon begin falling apart. More here from a Mountain Xpress article.
Lange is quoted below from a note he sent to Xpress:
I put it outside to let it dry while I went to the pub to get a beer. Karma aside, don’t you think someone is going to see it hanging (leaning as it doesn’t have wire on it yet, either) in your place and ask you how much you bought it for? It is a rare composition for me, a slice of a circle set in a diptych that is 2 feet by 6 feet. The colors are brown stained wood towards the periphery with 8 red zigzag sunrays/lightning bolts in the center. It was also a commission for Bandido’s Burrito in West Asheville.
There is a reward for information leading to the painting’s return.
