>WLOS’ Bob Caldwell Announces His Retirement

by BlogAsheville on May 2, 2007

After 41 years of guessing the weather, delivering outdoor reports, portraying TV clowns and otherwise looking befuddled and confused during WLOS’ entertainment and pop culture news segments, Bob Caldwell, currently the longest-serving fixture on local television (including Greenville/Spartanburg), has announced that he will retire at the end July.

The Asheville Citizen-Times has the story.

In the meantime, don’t fret – he’s still ours for almost three months, and he’ll still be showing off the best of what WNC has to offer to nature lovers on a regular basis.

    >I can’t believe that Mr. Caldwell has betrayed the people of Asheville and the WLOS viewing area. He is using his “trustworthy persona” to lead people into the jaws of doom at Auto Advantage. Shame on you Bob.

I sure hope that this will be a great opportunity for everyone to see
some of “Don’s Scenes” from his productions of his classic hits “Tales
From Kutcharitaville”. You know that Rickles and Johnny Carson together
produced those comedy hits about their friend “Mr. Kutchie Pelaez” and
their wild and crazy exploits of Kutchie’s Key West and The World of Key
Lime Pies from the perspective of (Johnny Carson, Don Rickles, Kutchie
Pelaez and Steve Martins Eyes!) What a Hoot Those Classic Hits Surely
Were. Don’t miss them, be sure to tune-in next month. We Laughed Our Ass’s Off Until
We Cried Watching Those Funny Movies. “The Tales From Kutcharitaville”, I
Think That They May Still Be Available In A Boxed Set…..

    ….just 4-u-bob….
